So, I work with this college kid, let's call him Mike a.k.a M. Phish for his protection of course..ha. And he has my brain all mixed up on what's right or wrong when dating and what the man is suppose to do and the roll of a woman in a relationship.
More specifically we were talking about who pays for dinner or drinks when the check comes (haha). He doesn't believe in paying for his ladies share b/c to him that's him putting a down payment on the panties and he doesn't think that's right. He'd rather go 50/50 and have his lady offer the panties (haha) b/c she likes him, not b/c he brought her dinner...?
My outlook is this, I like when a woman pays for dinner. Let's me know where we stand off the jump. Not that she's going to pay for dinner every time, or she's trying to prove she has her own. To me it means I'm on your team, let me be your partner and we'll do it together. Has absolutely nothing to do with the panties...(haha).
My guy Mike said 50/50 is the only way to go. I say whoever reaches first (Guys step up and reach more). I know when I'm out with my homies and the check comes we play the "Not it" game. Who ever is left standing handles that...haha.
So what are the rules of dating between men and women when the check comes?

Well, as a woman I have no problem picking up the check. You can look at it as me putting a down payment on his undies. LOL! Just kidding. But for real, I have no problem picking up the tab it's nice to have the guy pay for it every once in a while but if he doesn't we'll be eating ham and cheese sandwiches at his crib. GNR!!!! Jokes people jokes.

Ok so this is the situation Anonymous. I don't usually sensor or edit people's comments but you're killing the team! Every meal? Drinks every time? Healthy relationship? Are you serious? When people like this make comments they should be forced to leave their name because it could be some chick sitting at home trying to cause problems..haha.

Yea I am with you Chuck, if you say something as bold as that you should leave your name. I agree whoever grabs the check picks up the tab. Who really cares who pays the check the important thing is the fun you are supposed to be having on the date, but a woman picking up the tab is just a good show of faith to me, and it shows she is able to stand on her own two feet.

i think that on the first couple dates, it's nice for the man to pay....i think it shows he's a gentleman. i, like LoyalT, have no problem picking up the check. and i think a woman should always offer to pay or put something on it (even on the first date).
i agree with LoyalT and Uncle Charlie...it should be a team effort...balance is key in a "healthy" relationship.

Mike, Sir, I need you to step into the 21st Century. Now don't get me wrong, there are a few things old school things the ladies still like and appreciate. Things like....opening a door to let us walk in first or complementing us when you know we just got our hair done. Doesn't matter if you like it or not say something nice. LOL! But paying for a meal every now and then is so not a big deal. Now don't get me wrong. If you ordering filet mignon or lobster, oh best believe some ass will be given up that night (jokes only jokes...well..maybe)! But in this economy, I think it's alright to pick up the tab every once in a while. Concerning your need to give something back just because somebody buys you something, don't. There are genuinely nice people out there that get joy just from seeing others smile. Like me:)
